Day 01: Zhongdian. Zhongdian, also known as Gyeltang or Gyalthang, marks the start of the Tibetan world. North of town is this 300-year-old Tibetan monastery complex 每 Ganden Sumtseling Gompa, the most important in South-West China. There are half a dozen main buildings, and the village atmosphere makes it a fine place to while away a few hours. Overnight in Zhongdian
Day 02: Zhongdian-Deqin. Leave Zhongdian and drive past the beautiful Napa Lake you'll climb over mountain of 5570m, and then get to the town of Deqin. It's 184km, and takes about 4 hours. Deqin is the last town before the Tibetan border, perched at an average altitude of 3550m and is peppered with views of majestic "Snow Mountains" in all directions. You're going to visit one of Yunnan's most magical mountains, Kawa Karpo lying to the west of Deqin. Overnight in Deqin
Day 03: Deqin-Markham. This part of road used to be of economic significance in ancient China, called "Tea-Horse Road",as famous as the "Silk Road". Markham is the intersection of Yunnan-Tibet Highway and Sichuan-Tibet Highway. Overnight in Markham
Day 04: Markham-Pomda-Pasho. Markham offers spectacular scenery, with two riotous rivers 每 Lancang River and Jinsha River. The road running up and down through mountains and gorges makes the 265km driving full of surprise and excitement. After getting to Pomda, the landscape changes to stretching grassland. Anther 94km's driving, you get to Pasho. Overnight in Pasho
Day 05: Pasho-Pomi. The scenery east of Pomi is particularly beautiful. The road heads up the Parlung Tsangpo valley, passing a gorge and several stunning side valleys before you get your first magical views of the blue waters and sandy beaches of Rawoktso. After days of driving on the dusty roads, you'll feel so refreshed once get to Pomi, a town embraced by snow mountains and deep forest with pleasant views. Overnight in Pomi
Day 06: Pomi-Nyingtri. This part of road continually surprises you with incredible scenery. One saying describes it best: four seasons a day, diverse climate in ten miles. Overnight in Nyingtri
Day 07: Nyingtri. After couple of tough days on the road, Nyingtri is a nice place to take a break. The beautiful alpine lake Draksumtso, also known as Bagsumtso, is well worth of your time. Apart from the sheer beauty of the lake and its surrounding 6000m-plus peaks, the site has strong connections to Gesar King, the semi-mythical ruler of eastern Tibet, and Guru Rinpche, the Indian sage. You can also talk some short walks on the small island in middle of the lake. Another place you can wander around is the temple of Nyingma order, Lamaling Temple. Overnight in Nyingtri
Day 08: Nyingtri-Lhasa. Drive to Lhasa, enjoy the great landscape along the way. Overnight in Lhasa
Day 09: Lhasa. The sightseeing starts from Lhasa's cardinal landmark 每 Potala Palace, a structure of massive portions. Its towering image already appearing on various occasions, but your first sight of the Potala will still be an awe-inspiring moment. It takes at least a good 2-hour to visit those rooms, halls and chapels.
Some 2km to the east of the Potala is the most revered religious structure in Tibet 每 Jokhang Temple. Bustling with worshippers and redolent with mystery, the Jokhang is an unrivalled experience. The quadrangle of streets surrounding the Jokhang is the Barkhor 每 Lhasa's most interesting pilgrimage circuit. This area of the Old Town is both the spiritual heart of Lhasa and the main commercial district for Tibetans.
Day 10: Leave Lhasa. Pack your luggage and get ready for leaving. The guide will transfer you to the airport, and help you board the plane. Say goodbye to Tibet and fly out.
