Tibet has five great peaks over 8,000m, and of them Chomolungma is of course the highest and most famous. This trekking itinerary takes you deep into the heart of the Himalayan range and provides an unequaled opportunity to experience the beauty and hardship of life at high elevation. We will pass Rongbuk monastery (5,100m), a center for Buddhist teachings in the eastern Himalaya and the base from which the historic Mallory expeditions set forth. From here we move up to Advanced Base Camp (ABC) through some of the most magnificent high-altitude scenery in the world. We climb through the morain onto the massive Rongbuk glacier, past jutting seracs, sheer rock faces, treacherous crevasses, with the north west face of Chomolunga looming ever closer. With some extra days you will have the opportunity to explore this austere high-mountain environment, scramble the nearby ridge-lines, and even proceed along the ascent route to the north west ridge. Camped at 6,400m ABC at the foot of Mt. Everest is a landscape photographer and amatuer mountaineer¡¯s dream come true.
