The Snow Lion, the first Tibetan restaurant
For those who do not like Greek that would like to try something rare and hard to find in the U.S., then The Snow Lion is the place to go.

The restaurant is dimly lit. On the walls there are several framed articles about the restaurant and photos from the TV show Jeopardy, which once asked: ¡°This famous religious leader¡¯s nephew owns The Snow Lion restaurant.¡±

The answer is the Dalai Lama, whose nephew opened the restaurant 15 years ago. It is named after the national symbol of Tibet. At the time it opened, The Snow Lion was the first Tibetan restaurant in the U.S.

John Simon, The Snow Lion manager, suggests those who want to try Tibetan food for the first time order the Jasha Thupka, the most popular dish. The Jasha Thupka is chicken with egg noodles and vegetables. They can also try the Ping Jasha, clear noodles with vegetables and chicken over rice topped with a light brown sauce.

I love The Snow Lion, says Julia Swanson, an IU student. It¡¯s great food, especially if you want to try something different that you can¡¯t really find anywhere else.
