"this is the kind of place manhattan has far too few of. you exit busy houston street and enter a pleasant, tastefully designed space. the food is delicious and carefully made. the people serving it to you actually care if you enjoy it. and you still have a few bucks left over to rent a movie afterwards."

This is a pretty small restaurant with very basic decor: it would be easy to walk by and not notice it, but you would be missing out on some excellent food, as well as a supremely courteous staff. (i have never been treated better and made to feel as comfortable at any other small restaurant before or since!!) The atmosphere is so calm and casual that even if you only go once you'll feel like you're a regular. All in all, a terrific place. And if you've never had Tibetan food before, this is the place to try it.
