Zogang, means "back of a farm cattle" in Tibetan.
Zogang County is located in the southeast of the Tibet Autonomous Region and at the drainage area of Nu River and Lantsang River.
Zogang County covers an area of 11,726 square kilometres, with a population of 38,000. The average altitude is about 3700 metres above sea level, and the heighest altitude is 5434 metres above sea level.
The main mine resources are iron, tin, gold, silver, coal, sulfur and graphite, etc.
Agriculture is the main economic style in Zogang County. The main fruit products are walnut, apple, pepper, pear, orange and Chinese date, etc.
The total wood stock volume is 22.72 million cubic metres. The main species of trees are spruce, fir, horsetail pine and cypress.
There are two power stations in Zogang County.
The mileage of roads opened to traffic reaches 192 kilometres.
The special handicraft products, such as draw ring and tibetan sword, are well known through out the world.
