Old Art Embraces New Life



Zhuo Meben (C), who has painted thangka for 26 years, instructs the new painters to draw thangka, a Tibetan art form, in Lhasa, capital of southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, Aug. 20, 2006. Thangka, an art form dating back 1,000 years, mainly depicts images of people, god, medical science and history from Tibetan Buddhism. A group of youths choose to become thangka painters nowadays, creating new life for the old art.
