The world's first Buddhist Forum opened in the scenic city of Hangzhou in east China's Zhejiang Province on April 13, 2006. The 11th Panchen Erdeni attended and delivered an important speech at the opening ceremony whose theme was "A harmonious world begins in the mind."
The young master entered the meeting hall at 8:50 a.m. to the delight of the participants. When he was seated in the center of the rostrum, prolonged applause broke out.
When it was his turn to speak, the young master cupped his hands and greeted all present. He recited a prayer before he started to deliver his speech. He said the grand gathering was a happy event for Buddhist circles. Buddhism in China had a history of more than 2,000 years, and had grown into a part of traditional Chinese culture. China is a country complete with three-language Buddhism, which co-existed harmoniously. The young master hoped the forum would help promote unity among Buddhist monks and among various Buddhist sects.

The 11th Panchen Erdeni said "safeguarding the country in the interest of the people" was the solemn promise Buddhism makes towards the nation and society. For hundreds of years, he said, Tibetan Buddhism had followed this fine tradition. The 10th Panchen Erdeni had made special contribution in this regard. He expressed his confidence in the construction of a harmonious, peaceful and auspicious world. Towards the end of his speech, he prayed for Buddhism to continue for ever, for the world to enjoy peace for ever, for the motherland to enjoy prosperity for ever, and the people to enjoy better life for ever. His speech attracted great applause.
This was the first time the 11th Panchen Erdeni had appeared in front of eminent monks from various parts of the world. His polite demeanor was a chance for Buddhist followers to see the cultivation of the grand Living Buddha.

During the forum, the young master attended the reception party held by Jia Qinglin, CPPCC Chairman, Liu Yandong (CPPCC Vice-Chairman and Minister of the CPC United Front Work Department) and Tong Chee-hwa (CPPCC Vice-Chairman). He was also received by Xi Jianping, Secretary of the Zhejiang Party Committee. He was worshipped by Living Buddha Jammoyang, Living Buddha Chokang, Living Buddha Cemoling, Living Buddha Dewacang, Living Buddha Dorjezha, and representatives of Buddhist circles in China. Living Buddha Kangchi from Italy, Living Buddha Kongdeling from India and Living Buddha Ato from the UK also called on him.
