After the launching of passenger train on Qinghai-Tibet railway on July 1, Tibet will meet the first tourism climax, according to Tibet Business.

With the operation of Qinghai-Tibet railway, many tourists will try to experience a Tibet travel by train. But, too many tourists will bring pressure to Potala Palace, a leading must-see in Tibet.

Qamba Galsang, the director of Potala Palace Market Managing Office introduced that Potala Palace was in structure of bricks and wood. As a world culture heritage, protection of Potala Palace should be emphasized firstly. Qamba Galsang said that Potala Palace would meet 1,000 tourists every day and at most it would receive 2,000 tourists in one day within the sustaining of Potala Palace.

However, it can't meet the demand of 4,000-6,000 tourists entering Tibet every day. After July 1, the tourist-receiving capability will face up to some trial.

Tibet Tourism Bureau: Attention should be paid

1,000 tickets of Potala Palace every day can't meet the demand of tourists in a hot season and tourists have lots of complaint, according to Liao Lisheng, director of Tibet Tourism Bureau Office. After the operation of Qinghai-Tibet railway, more and more tourists will enter Tibet to visit Potala Palace and tickets will be in urgent need. This should cause the attention of related departments.

Suggestion: Rise in price and prolong open time

In order to solve the problem between tourists' need and Potala Palace's protection, Liao delivered his own suggestions as the following.

I. To rise in ticket price within different period.

II. Prolong the open time of Potala Palace.


III. To set down new travelling lines.

IV. To establish a tourist-center near Potala Palace for tourists to understand Potala Palace through the illustration of guide and video broadcasting. Through this way, the stay period of tourist at Potala Palace will be shortened.
