Communication becomes more visible in Tibet

Lhasa has got the high-tech bug, with video phones being introduced in the capital of the Tibet Autonomous Region, the news website Xinhuanet.com reports.

Lhasa Telecom has invested nearly 3 million yuan (US$360,000) installing video phones in its various service departments.

After some three months of preparation, a Shannan area girl became the first client of the new service. Phone officials said the young woman was thrilled to talk to her younger sister in Fujian Province over the video phone last week.
