The Qinghai-Tibet railway line is being equipped with top of the line services and amenities for expected tourist markets.

China Tibet News reports that apart from domestic tourists, foreign tourists especially those from Europe and the Americas are the greatest potential market for Qinghai-Tibet tourism development.

The tourist office of the Tibet Autonomous region says that development of the Qinghai-Tibet tourist railway line is aimed at a higher class market, since current tourist groups are primarily from overseas.

Acoording to the report, the trains used will come with special facilities, including medical apparatus, an on-board medical team and other safeguards.

Several years in construction the railway, the longest and highest in the world, starts from Golmud in the north, stretching over a distance of more than 1,000 kilometers to end at Lhasa in the south. Most of the railway is more than 4,000 meters above sea level.
