The height of Mt. Qomolangma re-measured this May is 8844.43 meters, source from the press conference held by Information Office, State Council at 10 am Oct.9th.

Head of State Bureau of Surveying and Mapping Chen Bangzhu promulgated the latest data of this re-measurement on the press conference: altitude of apex rock surface of Mt. Qomolangma is 8844.43 meters.

Experts thought that, it's the most exact data among all previous height measurement.

Chen said, this new height was authorized by State Council and promulgated by State Bureau of Surveying and Mapping according to the "Surveying and Mapping Law of the People's Republic of China". The height data promulgated in 1975 was annulled.
